Job Summary:

We seek enthusiastic and responsible young adults aged 15-19 to join our team as Junior Mountain and Gravel Bike Instructors. This role offers a unique opportunity for motivated individuals to gain leadership experience while sharing their passion for mountain and gravel biking with younger campers aged 10-16. Junior Instructors will assist in leading biking activities, providing instruction, and ensuring the safety and enjoyment of campers in a supportive camp environment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:  

  1. Assist senior instructors in planning and facilitating daily mountain and gravel biking activities and adventures for campers aged 10-16. 

  2. Instruct and guide biking techniques for mountain and gravel terrain, emphasizing safety and proper riding etiquette.  

  3. Support the organization and execution of skill-building sessions, drills, and challenges appropriate for campers' abilities and interests.  

  4. Participate in group rides on mountain trails and gravel roads, ensuring campers follow safety protocols and offering encouragement and assistance. 

  5. Help create a positive and inclusive environment where campers feel supported, challenged, and empowered to improve their biking skills.  

  6. Assist in the setup, maintenance, and care of mountain and gravel biking equipment, ensuring all gear is safe and functional.  

  7. Engage with campers during downtime, meals, and other activities, fostering positive relationships and serving as a role model.  

  8. Collaborate with senior counselors and other staff members to address camper needs, resolve conflicts, and ensure a successful camp experience.  

  9. Communicate effectively with campers, parents/guardians, and fellow staff members regarding program activities, camper progress, and any concerns.  

  10. Uphold camp policies and procedures, including safety guidelines and emergency protocols, at all times.  

  11. Participate in training sessions and meetings to enhance skills and knowledge related to counseling, biking instruction, and camp leadership.  

  12. Perform other duties as assigned by camp management.  

Additional Job Requirements: 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with customers and team members. 

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple tasks and customers in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and flexible hours as needed to meet customer demand. 

  • Regularly scheduled attendance. 

  • All employees must follow The Line’s employment practices and policies. 

Qualifications:   

  • Age 15+ 

  • Passion for mountain and gravel biking and a desire to share that passion with younger campers.  

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate campers aged 10-16.  

  • Responsible and reliable, with the maturity to handle the challenges and responsibilities of a counselor role.  

  • Basic knowledge of biking techniques and safety practices, with a willingness to learn and grow in this area.  

  • Positive attitude, patience, and adaptability in a dynamic camp environment.  

  • Ability to work well as part of a team and follow directions from senior staff members.  

  • Current certification in CPR and First Aid (or willingness to obtain before employment).  

  • Background check is required.

  • Riding bikes  

  • Operate typical office equipment including computers. 

  • Standing for extended periods up to an entire work shift 

  • Bend, lift, open, and move products and fixtures up to 50 pounds frequently during work shifts  

  • Working conditions include indoor and outdoor work in all seasons and weather.
