Women’s Mountain Bike Clinic

IMPROVE YOUR MTB SKILLS, MEET NEW FRIENDS AND EXPLORE THE SNOQUALMIE VALLEY TRAILS!

The Line is thrilled to partner with GRIT Clinics to bring an exclusive 1.5 day MTB clinic to the Snoqualmie Valley this summer! We welcome all women and women-identifying riders from beginners to intermediate. This is a great chance to progress your skills and meet others in the community for future ride buddies!

Aug 2 is a Meet & Greet and bike-body position demonstration (no bikes needed). Don’t miss the surprise swag giveaways!

The clinic will take place August 3 at Snoqualmie Point Park. It will be run by professional, female mountain bike instructors from Grit Clinics, and led by the renowned Lindsey Richter of Ladies AllRide!

Who Should Come?

The clinic is open to all women, queer, non-binary, and gender non-conforming individuals 18+ years old. The Line strives to close the gender gap and strengthen marginalized voices in our community.

Skill Level: Participants should be comfortable riding a dirt trail. This clinic is not a good fit for those who have not biked off pavement before.

If you enjoy biking and want to increase your confidence and skill level this event is for you.

What to Expect

The clinic will consist of skills and drills, lunch provided by The Line, on-trail instruction, and a half day guided ride on Sunday. Additionally, there will be some education sessions at the end of day one and a stretching session at the beginning of day 2.

Groups will each have a max of 7 participants, and will be based on skill level. Skill level will be determined by a self-evaluation that will be sent out after registering, and can be updated during the clinic.

The Line Trailhead at Snoqualmie Point Park (map) will be our home base for the event where we will convene before and after trail activities.

What to Bring

Please take a look at the following list prior to your lesson.  You will learn more and feel better prepared if you use the checklist below.  Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions - we’re here to help!

Grit Clinics Checklist:

  1. A well-tuned mountain bike.  This is very important.  Please swing by our shop and have a mechanic take a look (no charge!) just to make sure everything is tuned and running smoothly. For more info on the best bike to bring, see below.

  2. A pair of flat pedals (these are not clipless pedals with a platform, they are made specifically for use with flat soled shoes).  They will make it easier to learn and practice during the skills sessions.  If you are very comfortable getting in and out of clipless pedals and prefer them, feel free to use them.  If you have a cage on your pedals, remove this before the clinic so you can use both sides of your pedals.

  3. Closed-toe shoes that are compatible with the pedals you’ll be using. Clipless pedals require shoes with cleats.  Flat pedals require flat shoes without cleats (such as tennis shoes or skate shoes without high arches and without deep ridges).  If you have questions about this please contact us before the lesson.  It’s very important that your pedals and shoes work together when you arrive at the lesson.

  4. Check the weather prior to your lesson and pack accordingly.

  5. Helmet (Full-Face helmet is required if you are taking a lesson at a downhill mountain bike park and you are working on advanced skills, drops, jumps or black diamond trails)

  6. Cycling Gloves

  7. Padded cycling shorts (not mandatory).

  8. Hydration Pack (or water bottles and a back pack) filled with lots of water for the day.

  9. Snacks (energy bars / gels / chews).

  10. Spare tube

  11. Basic riding tools (don't worry if you don't have them yet, your coach will carry extras)

  12. A set of leg and arm pads.  This is not mandatory, but some people feel more confident with this extra bit of protection. (This is highly encouraged if you are taking a lesson at a downhill mountain bike park).

  13. Sunscreen

  14. Insect Repellent

The best bike to bring:

A good mountain bike can make all of the difference in learning new skills and feeling more confident on the trails.  Make sure your bike is the proper size for you and is well maintained (schedule a tune-up a few days prior to the lessons). For this clinic, we suggest a dual suspension cross country or all-mountain bike for a more comfortable ride, but front suspension only bikes work fine also.  A dropper post or quick release seat post is suggested so you can easily lower and raise your saddle when going down technical sections and learning new skills.

If you’re not sure you’re bike is in great condition or just want to ride on newer tech, we have a limited number of rental bikes at a 20% discount for the clinic.

Simply email us your clinic confirmation # and let us know your height and inseam length.

What are GRIT Clinics?

Grit Clinics together with sister company Ladies AllRide have traversed the country for years teaching mountain bike skills clinics in an effort to share our passion for bikes with as many people as possible. From this passion has grown a team of dedicated coaches who have joined us in our efforts to create fun and inspiring skills clinics as part of a movement to share the joys of mountain biking with more people. Our team of professional coaches live all over the country and we are constantly expanding our reach.

We understand how people learn and we relate the sport to life in our teachings. We strive to connect our participants to their bikes, the lifestyle, products and the community on a deeper level.

Ladies AllRide mountain bike skills camps are all about bringing people who identify as female together to learn skills on their bikes and share the joys of mountain biking in a fun and welcoming environment.

From fresh-out-of-the-box newbie to seasoned rider, group ride lover or solo shredder, you’re welcome here. We welcome all body types, all fitness levels, all skin colors, all walks of life! We take a lot of care to place each rider in small groups based on answers to an extensive questionnaire to create a welcoming and FUN camp experience for all!

We strive to help women see the symmetry between bikes and life because we believe in the power of mountain biking as a catalyst for growth, change and connection with others and oneself. We see firsthand how mountain biking can help people face fears, believe in themselves and learn what they’re capable of. We want to share our passion with as many women as possible to help grow the community of female mountain bikers across the globe.
