Bikes, Beer, and BBQ: What a Friday Night at The Line Looks Like

Every Friday, The Line and Arête Café host Bikes, Beer, and BBQ: a free group ride followed by a backyard hangout at The Line HQ in North Bend. It has been running for a while now, it is not a new launch, and the format is simple enough that showing up for the first time is easy. Here is what the evening actually looks like.

The Ride

The default Friday ride is mountain biking at Raging River. Meet at The Line HQ by 3:30pm for the shuttle out, or meet directly at the trailhead by 4pm if you are coming from that direction. These are casual, social rides, not beginner rides and not a race. Raging River is real terrain, so come ready to ride, but the pace and the vibe are about riding together, not pushing a pace.

Some Fridays swap the mountain bikes for a casual gravel spin from The Line HQ on the Snoqualmie Valley Trail instead. Each week's ride is listed on the events page, so check there to see which ride is on before you load up.

The Backyard

After the ride, everyone rolls back to The Back of Line, the outdoor space behind The Line HQ, where Arête Café runs the food and drink. Beer, barbecue, and a place to sit down after the ride. Arête Café is the named co-host here, The Line leads the ride and provides the backyard space, Arête Café runs the kitchen and the bar. It is a genuinely joint effort, and it shows in how the evening runs.

You do not have to have ridden to show up for this part. The backyard is open to anyone who wants to be there, riders and non-riders both.

Who This Is For

This is a community night, not a training ride and not a beginner clinic. It works for a rider who has never been to The Line before and wants to meet people, and it works for a regular who shows up most weeks. The tone is the same either way: come as you are, ride if you want to, eat and hang out either way.

Signing up ahead of time helps the team know how many riders to expect for the shuttle and the ride. Each Friday has its own quick sign-up: find this week's ride on the events page and grab a spot.
